Hey friends. Most of you know that we've been
seriously considering Ethiopia for our adoption
process, as Brazil's doors continue to remain mostly
closed to adoptions of children younger than Booker.
It has been five years since we began our journey in
that country, and it's not one that we leave without
some sadness. Perhaps it's a "not now" instead of a
"never". Time will tell, I suppose.
Yesterday, after speaking to our local agency one
more time, Booker, Brooklyn and I filled out the
online application for Ethiopia, prayed over it
together, and then Booker clicked the "send
application now" button. It was a triumphant moment,
and all of us were silly with excitement.
The adoption process typically takes 6-12 months, and
there are hundreds, if not thousands, of children
waiting for homes. You should hear my older two pray
for these kids and this process -- it would make you
BAWL. Oh, to approach life and God as a child...
So here we go... am sure the road will be bumpy and
scary at times, but we know Who goes before us, and we
rest in that.
To Africa go our hearts... Karen
